The adventure continues between SELI OVERSEAS and Med’International
SELI OVERSEAS is continuing its commitment to Med’International , the Rouen medical students’ association working in Togo! Last year, the Regina Pacis Hospital paediatric unit became fully operational thanks to the equipment provided.
In 2023, a new operation is being launched following the discovery that the sanitary facilities at Saint Luc hospital in Pagala are unfit for use. The aim for 2023 is therefore to build a health complex for obvious reasons of hygiene. In agreement with the team and in line with the hospital’s needs, the association has decided, as part of its ongoing project, to supply the necessary equipment. This equipment, much of which is either missing, faulty or several decades old, was identified through discussions with the hospital team, particularly the technicians. The equipment supplied also includes devices to prevent oral health problems, sexually transmitted diseases (condoms), malaria (mosquito nets), etc. On-site prevention is one of the association’s major goals.
After many thanks and expressions of gratitude, the students told us: “We wish you could have seen the smiles on the faces of all the staff at St Luc Hospital when the container arrived!” See on video
For the SELI OVERSEAS team, the logistical organisation is similar to that of 2022. Marina, involved since the first shipment, shares her enthusiasm with us: “It’s been a real team effort, I feel like I was able to share some of the students’ joy when the equipment was finally handed over to the hospital. I would like to thank all those who worked hard to make this project a reality, as well as those who made things happen. Well done and thank you for this experience!”
Congratulations on your second successful shipment!
